Some Triggers Are Unavoidable...
When you review your credit with a trusted professional,
such as us, the credit reporting companies (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion) are
permitted to sell your information. This triggers untrusted and unsolicited offers
without your consent.
It may seem unfair; however, it is the reality. These companies are
profiting by selling your information, increasing the number of unsolicited calls you receive and offers you get in the mail.
The Solution:
“OPT OUT” to Stop Them
Fortunately, the same law that allows the credit reporting companies to sell your information also requires them to provide you with the right to opt out.
When you opt out, you prevent your credit file information from being sold for
Unsolicited offers.
Go to www.optoutprescreen.com to opt out of these offers!
You can opt out for 5 years online or permanently by filling out a form, printing it, and
mailing it in.
By opting out, you can also reduce the threat of identity theft! This will
stop or greatly reduce the unwanted offers of credit from appearing in your mail, which
is a common way identity thieves get access to your information.
Register with the Do Not Call Registry
The National Do Not Call Registry, managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC),
is another powerful tool in the battle against unwanted spam calls.
This allows you to opt-out of telemarketing companies from legitimate companies,
significantly reducing the number of spam calls you receive.
It's important to remember...
While these steps can substantially reduce the number of legitimate unwanted calls
you may receive; it will not prevent all unwanted calls.
This is especially true of those calls originating from scammers or fraudulent entities.
Combining these tools with other safe practices can help minimize your exposure
to such calls, scams, and identity theft.
