Most scam artists like to trick their victims by pretending to be trustworthy sources like banks, stores, or government agencies (Social Security is a popular one) and it is often done over the phone or through email.
Legitimate companies don’t usually ask for sensitive information over the phone or email, so NEVER give out your personal information!!
Instead, hang up and find the main phone number for the party they claim to be representing and call them directly.
Remember, if someone is giving you an offer that sounds “too good to be true” …it likely is!
